CivMetric aggregates and normalizes historical data into a unified framework that allows apples-to-apples comparison across millennia. Rather than relying on a single metric, it synthesizes 52 raw indicators into 15 composite indexes, which are then distilled into 6 core dimensions of civilization.

Every indicator is normalized to a 0–100 scale and adjusted for population size — so ancient tribal warfare (where ~15% of people died violently) correctly scores higher on the Conflict dimension than World War II (~2.9%).
